American Beer Day

An alcoholic beverage made by brewing and fermentation from cereals, usually malted barley, and flavored with hops and the like fora slightly bitter taste.

For many of us the first, *Cough *Cough, underage drink we had was a sip of beer. Going to that one house party in high school, having to pay $2 to drink cheap, watered down brewskis, was the ‘IT’ thing.
As the average barley pop lover gets older, they move away from the watered down cheap beer, and learn to appreciate the craft of wheat processing. Especially growing up in San Diego, brew is a huge part of this cities’ society. With so many local breweries, it’s ok to have, let’s say, a spoiled palate for beer. The list for San Diego Breweries is pretty extravagant, so I have taken the liberty of listing our top successors:

Like with any alcoholic beverage, it takes time to acquire a taste for beer. There are many types of beer that you can choose from such as: Ales, Lagars, Stouts & Porters, and Malts. As for beer styles there are: Amber, Blonde, Brown, Cream, Dark, Fruit, Golden, Honey, India Pale Ale, Light, Lime, Pale, Pilsner, Red, Strong, and Wheat. Having a hard time choosing what type of brewski to have, or are totally new to the beer tasting scene? Here’s a chart to kind of help with your decision making:beer-is-always-the-right-answer_50290b1a296de

Another tip to beer drinking (especially while tasting variations), always ask for a glass of water. That way, when tasting between different styles and types, your taste buds are fresh and ready to try the new malt.

As with wine, there are ways to pour your hops; you don’t want too much foam, and you don’t want all the taste to fall to the bottom. This surely takes away from the steady art of craft beer. Here’s a simple inforgraphic as to how you should be pouring your hops, specifically from a tap, but the process still works the same when pouring from a bottle to a glass.

Come on in for Happier Hour today and take a taste of our American Beer on Tap and in bottle form, all from your local San Diego Breweries! What better way to try them all than with our Beer Flight!IMG_6173

Dogs of Le Parfait Paris

In case you didn’t know, Le Parfait Paris is one of the many places in downtown that is dog friendly. Your furry friends are always welcome to come sit along with you and your friends for your morning breakfast, lunch time break, and your evening drink!

We at Le Parfait think that man’s best friend always has a place in our hearts and are just as important as you wonderful customers!

Just thought I’d take a moment and not only introduce the newest Le Parfait Paris furry member, but to feature some of our staffs furry  friends as well.

IMG_6249First off, let’s meet the newest member, Leya; she’s a rescue dog and we were told she is a breed of Boxer and possibly Pitbull. She’s been with the Le Parfait Family not too long, therefore she is still adjusting to the many faces of the shop. She’s a little skittish at first, but once you get her comfortable enough she will delightfully let you pet her. She’s only 4 months old and learning really quickly; her mom and dad got her pretty well potty trained as well! She loves playing with her chew toys and sleeping  most of the day just like most puppies do. Welcome to the Family Leah!

2015-08-21 15.04.18-1Next we have Laura’s critters, Cleveland and Dallas. The golden one is Cleveland and the black one is Dallas. They’re both two years old and best friends; they won’t do anything without each other.  Dallas loves playing fetch,  but all Cleveland likes to do is chase birds and butterflies. They make awesome hiking dogs and are always entertaining Laura and her husband. Crazy rascals!

FullSizeRender-4Lastly we have my two rascals, Nanook and Luna. Nanook is my old man, at almost 12 years old. He’s a Husky Shepard mix and loves to go swimming on hot days. He’s all bark no bite, he will lick you before he bites you. FullSizeRender-3

As for Luna, she’s my little spazoid. She’s a Terrier Poodle mix and loves to play. She especially loves to play with her big brother Nanook; I think she keeps him young.

There are others that are part of the Le Parfait Family, but are too shy to be mentioned and put in the spotlight. But, they are all happy members as well!

So, if you have furry friends of your own, they are always welcome at Le Parfait Paris.  If you’d like to share your story about your furry friends you can always tag them @leparfaitparis or #LeParfaitParis, whenever at the shop!

Come on in to the shop this weekend and make it a doggy date with you and your furry family members!

Happy Furry Friday everyone!

Feed Your Inner Foodie

Growing up in San Diego, I’m sure we have all participated in the Taco Tuesday frenzy. I find that once we start getting older we kind of wander away from what everyone is going to during the week. Either that, or you just get tired of it after a while. Instead of an every week thing, you make it more of a once a month thing. I myself always try to look for something new; what’s the new “hippest” little eating place in town, what hole in the wall can I go to next. My inner Foodie is always craving something new and exciting to place on my palate and fill my belly. If your inner Foodie is calling for something new and exciting, why not try our Tapas Tuesday?

Selected Tapa items from the menu are 50% Off which include:

  • Artichoke and Prosciutto Bruschette- Artichoke marinated with rosemary, lemon and olive oil, with prosciutto, arugula, and Parmesan on top of a selected house bread.Screen Shot 2015-08-11 at 12.58.26 PM
  • Soup of the Month- Ingredients vary on season, but they are freshly picked from our local Farmer’s Market.

If your inner Foodie is craving something else on the menu, such as our  Chacuterie  BoardsScreen Shot 2015-08-11 at 1.49.12 PM, those are also available to share (or not to share). No doubt that these boards always go amazing with a nice glass of wine. My personal favorite, any Red Wine, I feel it expands the taste buds to gain more flavors off the cheese and meat combo.

Along with our wines being half off during our Happier Hour (3pm-8pm Mon-Fri), you can have one of our 50% Off Tapas, and a nice glass of wine on the side. Or try out one of our Beer Flights to share.

There’s always something at Le Parfait Paris to satisfy your inner Foodie. Therefore don’t hesitate to quiet down the Foodie Monster and stop by the shop!

Food for your Foodie personality, is what we do best!

Ever wonder how that hashtag started? It’s weird how certain trends start isn’t it?

Either way, we are glad this hashtag became popular, because well, that’s just what our Thursdays were made for!

So, if you are feeling “Thirsty” for an Ale, or a glass of  cold wine, you should definitely come through!

The weekend is just one more day away, but who said that you have to wait for Friday for a night cap? Our Thirsty Thursdays are a great mental break from your long day. Even better when  you come during our Happier Hours (3pm-8pm), selected small plates and drinks make great Happier Hour companions!

With our great selection of local beers such as: Ballast Point IPAs, Ales, and Lagars, Stone IPAs, and  Saint Archer Blonde Ale- make a great local variety all in one place! (Beer flights now available, choose from four of our different beers on tap.) In my opinion, a cold glass of beer goes great with a nice fresh sandwich! Guess what? We have a great selection of those too! Brought to you in a nice crisp baguette or panini  bread with fresh Farmer’s Market Produce.Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 3.06.15 PM

If you’re not too much of a beer drinker, we also have a considerable selection of wines: Reds, Whites, Dessert Wines, Sparkling Wine, and Rosés. Not to mention our Champagne collection as well, which makes for a fine refreshing Mimosa!Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 3.26.13 PM

(Our wines and Champagne are best complimented by our Charcuterie Boards or the Salmon Carpaccio.)

For those of you wanting something with a little more kick, we have our selection of Cocktails as well.

Our Cocktail flights are perfect to share with a friend, they contain: two Kiwil Swills (Citrus forward with refreshing kiwi and sage flavors), and Solstice D’été  (Sweeter tasting notes of citrus, watermelon, and basil).

Solstice with Kiwil Swill Flight

Lastly, you can never go wrong with desserts or pastries! As you know, we have a well-known variety of French pastries and dessert to choose from.

If you’re Gluten Free, no worries we have desserts made especially for you! (Cough, Cough) MACARONS!Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 3.31.09 PM
